[NEWS] 'THE VOICE' HITS A HIGH NOTE WITH SOUTH AFRICANS SINCE IT'S 'REFRESHING' & 'UNIQUE'
My expectations of The Voice were high thanks to reports from my friends who are based in the States. “You should check out YouTube to see epic episodes of The Voice,” a friend said in an e-mail.I expected something similar to Idols – featuring people who thought they could sing embarrassing themselves on national television. There was none of that.
Instead the judges – experienced, talented musicians Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, opened the show by belting out a reworked Crazy, the hit song by Cee-Lo’s former band Gnarls Barkley.
The blind auditions were another twist, and they really make The Voice a breath of fresh air. The fact that the judges only listen to the contestants before making the decision to turn their chair around or not adds to the authenticity of the show.
There were moments when the judges were angry at themselves for missing out on a great singer who also looks good.
Another great thing about The Voice is the camaraderie between the judges. From humorous insults to actually fighting for contestants, it makes a welcome change to the icy comments from Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh on Idols and The X-Factor.
The best thing about The Voice, though, is the shift in power. When more than one judge turns their seat around, the contestant has a choice of who he or she wants to work with – putting the judges in the hot seat.

The 2003 American Idol contestant (she was kicked out of the show after nude pictures of her showed up) is back and is looking for a chance to claim what could’ve been hers. After she gave a rousing performance of Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl, Christina couldn’t turn her seat fast enough.

Adam Levine's publicist has shot down reports the Maroon 5 frontman and Christina Aguilera were involved in a fight during rehearsals for the American Music Awards.
The pair has faced gossip suggesting they do not get along since signing up as judges on TV talent show The Voice. They swiftly silenced the speculation by recording the hit song Moves Like Jagger, which they performed at the awards ceremony.
However, rumors of a feud returned after Aguilera reportedly snubbed Levine's request for a hug and stormed off stage while they prepared for their performance.
A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "At the end of the number, Adam went to hug Christina in a friendly fashion, but she pushed him away, gave him a dirty look and stormed backstage."
But Levine's spokesperson has quickly rebuffed the report, insisting it is "100 percent not true."

Yes, there were gasps when Christina Aguilera appeared on the AMA’s stage last night, November 20th, considerably more curvy than she has ever been. So what?The singer and The Voice judge looked bodacious and bootylicious in a white, short and skin tight Herve Leger bandage dress.
She had definitely gained some weight but she belted out her hit with Maroon 5′s Adam Levine, Moves Like Jagger, and hit all her notes.
It was a stellar performance and twitter lit up, but sadly and not all that surprisingly I guess — the comments were almost entirely about her weight gain.
Now a source who’s a close friend of Christina’s tells Radaronline that “Christina loves her curves,” and wonders — “since when is it not ok to have curves?”
She is apparently happy in her skin and feels “it’s not what you look like in a dress, it is how you feel and it is about owning your dress.” If you want to wear a tight dress, then own it,” her friend says.
Great point Christina. You looked comfortable. You looked sexy and you performed with confidence. Your silver hosiery and shoes were perfect with your minidress, so who cares what the twitterverse says.
A production assistant at the recent American Music Awards admits to HollywoodLife.com, that “most of us were shocked when we saw how much weight Christina had gained but she didn’t act embarrassed or ashamed. She held her head high and seemed like her usual confident self. Her confidence is what makes her sexy regardless of her weight!” Totally agree!
Furthermore, Christina “feels like she is setting an example for women and young girls, especially Latinas”, according to her friend. ” She’s very proud of her curves. Christina thinks she is a good role model — not everyone is super skinny and she wants girls to embrace their body type.”

Furthermore, Christina’s boyfriend, Matthew Rutter, loves her exactly the way she is. Hollywoodlife.com observed Matthew hugging Christina, rubbing her back and indulging in more PDA both in front and away from the cameras at the Skyrim launch event on Tuesday, November 8th at the Belasco Theater, in LA.
So Xtina haters — get lost, worry about your own weight and just try to sing any notes, anything like Christina!

American Idol star Kelly Clarkson also appeared fuller figured but she chose to keep her curves under wraps in a full-length sequinned red gown.
The 29-year-old performed a jazzed up version of her single Mr Know-It-All off her new album Stronger surrounded by thirties-themed paparazzi dancers.
She was almost unrecognisable with her darker hair and heavier build.
Clarkson recently joked about wearing two pairs of Spanx while performing on VH1's Unplugged:
'Oh dear God, can we just sing?' she said.The American Music Awards will be broadcast on Saturday 26th November at 10pm on Viva.

When he considers the AMAs, what he's most excited about is "to be around such walking empires and song brands."What I love at the awards show is to just sit there and observe and study everybody," he says. "You can tell who has longevity in the business as to how they handle their team."
Like most of those interviewed, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 is excited about whom he may meet at the awards.
"It happens all so randomly, and everyone under the sun will be there," Levine says. If he had the chance to meet anyone, "Paul McCartney would blow my mind," he says.
Maroon 5 will sing "Moves Like Jagger" with Christina Aguilera.
"It is hard singing on a stage with her because she is so good," Levine says. "I will have to flail my arms around and run around like a maniac."
Though it's a huge audience filled with music's top talent, Levine has played in front of 1 million people, and one of his first concerts was at producer Clive Davis' in front of Jay-Z, Missy Elliott and Smokey Robinson, so he doesn't give in to jitters.
"A huge crowd of people is a huge crowd of people," he says. "You know when you are in a club or when you are in an arena it makes no difference. It's like seeing a bear -- you act like you are taller than the bear. That's what performing is."
