CHRISTINA AGUILERA PERFORMS ON THE EARLY SHOW

[NEWS] XTINA NAILS THE NAUGHTY MARY POPPINS LOOK

First Christina Aguilera baffled us with her electronic BeDazzled vajazzler at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. Then she pulled out all her signature belty faces on the "TODAY" show. And today she performed on "The Early Show" in a raincoat that LOOKED all sweet and innocent and very Mary Poppins-y from afar. But from ANEAR it was clear that Christina's raincoat was TOTALLY SEE-THROUGH! And she paired it with some kinky boots. Phew! She hasn't lost her edge after all!

CHRISTINA REVEALS SHE BATTLES DEPRESSION IN UPCOMING MINI DOCUMENTARY "BEHIND THE MUSIC"

This is the X-Tina we miss. Hey, eyes over here. (AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill, File)
Last week, we debuted a recurring feature in which we unveil some notable (and ideally, insane) soundbites from upcoming new episodes of VH1's uber-self-aware Behind the Music series. And while we stand by our skewering of DMX's out-of-context tangents, his installment turned out to be significantly less formulaic and self-promotional than most.
So does that mean we're pre-emptively singling out choice Christina Aguilera snippets from her cable mini-doc (airing on VH1 this Sunday at 9 p.m.)? Maybe. Do the below excerpts have us considering X-Tina's primetime retrospective instead of True Blood's premiere? You gotta be kidding.
Nonetheless, here are the five Aguilera one-liners that have us wondering if the recently maligned vocal powerhouse needs to check herself before she what-the-heck's herself (who refers to their spouse in the possessive, anyway?):
“I wanted to make a statement, and a bold one and what better way to do it than to wear ass-less chaps when you’re 21 years old."
“I do battle with depression. It’s something that is always right below the surface. And it’s almost seductive to go to a place of sadness and darkness.”
“I’m truly thankful for the darkest times in my life.”
“I definitely don’t choose the safe way of living or expressing myself but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“My Jordan, he came to me at a time in my life when everything seemed a bit blurry."
IN OTHER WORDS: We've no doubt Aguilera's had her share of tough times, and we all respect her innate talent, but as her adversary Lady Gaga needs to learn as well, the less seriously you take yourself, the more the public will love you.

CHRISTINA'S LATEST PUBLIC-PERSONA RATING: 3/10
ANTICIPATION FOR HER BEHIND THE MUSIC RATING: 7/10
WHO CARES WHEN TRUE BLOOD IS ON ANYWAY? OMG/10

CHRISTINA AGUILERA INTERVIEW WITH POPEATER

Christina Aguilera is woman, hear her roar. She calls her new album 'Bionic' for its often futuristic sound, but also because she feels women today have to be almost superhuman to get everything done.

"I always am in support of strong women and trying to encourage them to not be ashamed of anything to do with their sexuality or labels and all that crap that has been put upon us for centuries now," she tells PopEater. "'Bionic' taps into all women in a sense that we are all mothers, we give birth, we do things that are not even remotely expected from a man, and we get labels that aren't given to men for doing the same exact thing."

Since her last album, 2006's 'Back to Basics,' Aguilera's become a mother and an actress -- she stars with Cher in the upcoming film 'Burlesque' -- but don't expect her to derail her career for the mommy track. "I wear so many different hats; it's quite the juggling and balancing act," she says. "[It's] important to me that I face these challenges and keep my career goals and focuses and that I don't change just because I've become a mother or a wife. I still find it crucial that I remain true to myself [as] an artist that's constantly changing the way I have for the past decade."

'Bionic' is in stores now. Watch PopEater's full interview with Aguilera below.
