Fast national ratings for Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
The premiere of "America's Got Talent" followed by a new episode of "The Voice" propelled NBC to a total viewers win, even in the face of the NBA Finals Game 1 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat.
The "AGT" premiere was also up considerably from the 2010 premiere (which improved upon the 2009 premiere). The 2010 premiere averaged 12.3 million viewers, while the 2011 premiere averaged almost 15 million viewers.
NBC's win was set by an average of 14.8 million viewers and an 8.7 rating/14 share in households. ABC, aided by the NBA, was second with 10.8 million, 6.4/10, followed by CBS at 9 million, 6.0/10, FOX at 2.6 million, 1.7/3 and the CW at 861 K, 0.6/1.
In the 18-49 demo, ABC took the title with a 4.5 rating, followed closely by NBC at 4.4. CBS (1.4), FOX (1.0) and the CW (0.3) trailed.
