[NEWS] CARSON DALY RECAPS EPISODE 5 OF 'THE VOICE' AND REVEALS CHRISTINA AND SERA'S MOMENT WAS COMPLETELY IMPROMPTU
I really enjoyed last night’s episode. The theme now is prepare for battle! If the blind auditions are about falling in love with artists, the battle rounds are about earning your respect and earning your keep. It’s one of the things we really liked about this format, and it’s one of the things that’s really risky, too. America’s in love with the blind auditions, but all of a sudden there’s an evolution here, and we’re switching gears next week. Watch a sneak peek of the battle rounds. But last night was about filling up the team, and although the coaches were still very picky, there was some really great talent.
I loved how the show opened with Whitney Myer. I love her story. She tours with her family, and it’s like the 1970s in her world, like the Brady Bunch. But more importantly, I really liked her voice a lot. I thought she was really a strong artist, and got the show off to a great start.
I think the Shields brothers are a good example of Cee Lo proving time and time again that success in music is as much about talent as it is entertainment. Cee Lo is definitely the most business savvy of all of our coaches. Cee Lo sees more than just a good voice. He’s already a step ahead; he’s looking to who’s marketable, who can put butts in seats, if you will, and that’s the way an entrepreneur thinks. You’ve got to entertain a crowd, and you’ve got to put on a show. He looks at the Shields brothers like he does Tony Vincent, as artists that could really be entertaining, which is an equally important weapon to have in your team of 12.
One of my favorite artists last night was Lex Land, who’s actually been on my late night show before. I saw her at South by Southwest several years ago and my staff and I loved her so much. She was really nervous and gave sort of a lackluster performance — she almost didn’t sound good at points — and I know that she’s capable of more, but she still got 3 out of the 4 chairs to turn around. She’s an exciting artist to watch and it’ll be fun to see her battle. That was a real highlight.
With Cameron Novack, I think the coaches made the right call. There was this talk about “Can we break the rules?” but as Cee Lo said, it jeopardizes the integrity of the whole show. The coaches are going to have regrets, and Cameron was Cee Lo’s regret. Cameron seemed to be a lightning rod on Twitter. People wrote to me, “I loved him in an Adam Lambert way!” or they said, “Absolutely not.” I got no gray area on Cameron.
I liked Wade’s version of “Rehab.” I like it when our artists give us their own take on a song. Wade is a student of music, as we learned, and he showed great respect for old school music and the Marvin Gayes of the world. He showed originality, he paid homage to the music that he loves most, and he showed so much talent and range. Really, that was a smart move by him. And he looked like a mini Cee Lo! They had a little brother, big brother thing going on, and their immediate affection for one another was contagious.
I really loved Sera Hill. I liked how the show closed with her, and I loved her personality. When Christina came out on stage, Sera looked as surprised as Taylor Swift looked the very first time she won an award. And when Christina kissed her on stage, she was just trying to hold on to the kiss, grabbing it out of thin air. A couple people asked me last night whether Christina’s performance was planned. The truth is, there are microphones around those coaches at all times if they ever feel inspired to get up and sing. What you saw there was an impromptu jam moment, which is the most fun to witness, just to see the look on Sera’s face. It’s one thing for her to be on Christina’s team, but it’s another for your coach to immediately want to sing with you. That was a really great moment and a looking glass into how, when the show is firing on all cylinders, it provides moments like that.
There was a lot of concern about my well-being after Adley Stump’s mother jumped on me, literally, leaped across the room, like a scene from Black Swan. This was like my audition for Dancing With the Non-Stars. But I caught her, because safety first, Mrs. Stump. Everybody asked, “Are you okay!?” and I want America to know that I am very strong and I proved it last night. I am recuperating!
Another thing I want to mention that America will be thrilled about in the battle rounds is… new wardrobe for all the coaches! What Purrfect the Cat was for conversation during the blind auditions, Christina Aguilera’s compact-disc hat will be for the battle rounds.
What people are watching throughout The Voice is a snapshot into what the music business used to be able to do well and just doesn’t do anymore. There is a process to music: There is a discovery process, there is a mentoring process, and then there is a “let’s see how far your dove can fly” process. Those are the three pillars of real A&R, and this is how the process happens. And there’s a fight in it all, and the fight is the battle rounds. The battles are in the ring and they’re ferocious. The coaches want to enter the live shows with the most diverse teams that they can get. It’s like Gladiator: Win the crowd, win your freedom. It’s been about building these teams, and now it’s about fighting to stay on them.

[NEWS] TATTOOS THE COACHES OF NBC'S 'THE VOICE' "REGRET" GETTING DONE
There's no shortage of ink amongst "The Voice" judging panel -- Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera all rock multiple tattoos. But with so many tats, there's bound to be one that they regret going under the needle for. Click through this slideshow to see the judges' unfortunate choices.
Adam Levine
In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, Adam Levine revealed that the tattoo on his right shoulder is "pretty stupid." When Adam saw a guy with a cool-looking Russian-like tattoo, he tried to mimic it and ended up getting inked with a "horrible bastardized version" instead. In hindsight, he admits he probably shouldn't have gotten the tattoo in the first place because he's "not tough." Adam told Anderson that he tried to hide the tat by surrounding it with something else, but now it just looks like "a cauliflower with a sun in the middle of it."
Blake Shelton
Blake Shelton has said before, "I probably have the crappiest tattoo, not only in country music, but maybe in the world." The tattoo he's referring to is a trail of deer tracks around his left forearm representing his love of hunting. Unfortunately, the deer tracks are constantly mistaken for ladybugs. Annoyed, Blake added a coil of barbed wire to the design, hoping to make it look "more manly."
Cee Lo Green
Cee Lo Green has tattoos all over his body -- even his face -- so it's surprising to know that he actually walked out of a tattoo parlor in the middle of getting his back inked because he was in too much pain. "I think that the tree on my back gave me the most pain. When you get your arms done ... if you can see what's going on, then maybe, psychologically, you think you can control it. Apparently you can, because it doesn't hurt so bad. With your back, you're lying on your front getting the tattoo and you just feel totally out of control -- you can't get a gauge on whether they're close to completion. So I gave up on it and I have an unfinished tattoo on my back. It was meant to be a family tree; I haven't been in a rush to finish it." That explains why we couldn't find a photo of the unfinished tattoo.
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera has a tattoo located on the inner part of her left elbow that's supposed to be the initials of her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman, in Hebrew. Unfortunately, the combination of the characters Xtina got actually means "12" and not "JB." Considering that she's no longer with Jordan, that might not be such a bad thing.Source: Yahoo!

[VIDEO] TONY LUCCA WANTS TO DUET WITH FORMER MOUSKETEER, CHRISTINA AGUILERA
He may be on Adam Levine's team, but The Voice contender Tony Lucca hopes to one day perform a duet with his former Mickey Mouse Club costar Christina Aguilera.
"It's one thing to rub elbows and be cheeky on TV together, but to actually put some time in rehearsal and share the stage once again would be really cool," Lucca, 36, said during a recent visit to Us Weekly's New York City offices.
"I think the world of her as a talent," he raved of Aguilera, 31. "I think she's phenomenal, and it would certainly elevate my game a bit."
To find out more from Lucca -- including how he really felt when Aguilera didn't recognize him, why he decided to audition for The Voice, and more -- watch the video above now.
The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.

[NEWS] BLAKE SHELTON SPILLS ABOUT HIS FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Blake Shelton doesn't reserve the teasing of his fellow coaches on NBC's The Voice to the music competition's TV broadcasts. He had some fun at their expense during his concert Saturday night at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., just west of Washington.
"I almost didn't do The Voice," he said, before describing a secretive meeting in Hollywood where he and the rest of the prospective cast first discovered who had been asked to do the show. "I'm the only country artist, so I'm the only coach on time because I'm worried I'll be fired before we even get started. After about 15 minutes, this little guy (Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine) in a white T-shirt and all these tattoos comes in." Shelton said he and his manager agreed that Levine looked "sexy."
Some "Secret Service guys" arrive after another 15 or 20 minutes, he says, to check out the place before Christina Aguilera arrives. "Then, Christina's boobs come through the door," Shelton says, "and about two minutes later the rest of her body comes through."
Another 20 minutes go by and "in comes this guy in a bright yellow Adidas suit (Cee Lo Green)… and my manager asks do I know any of his music, " says Shelton, who then plays Forget You, the G-rated version of Green's 2010 hit.
The reigning Country Music Association male vocalist of the year also took some time to bash critics who have questioned his on- and off-stage activities such as having an alcoholic drink on stage, hunting and liberal use of Twitter. "When did being a country singer mean you had to walk a straight line and be politically correct?"
Shelton, who has more than 1.1 million followers, peppers his Twitter feed with humor and pre-game rally comments for his concerts and The Voice broadcasts. Before his Friday concert at Reading, Pa., he tweeted: 'Im so excited about tonight's show I just high fived my own reflection in the mirror!!!!!"
But occasionally, his tweets may stray into subjects that music industry execs might prefer be left unstrayed-into publicly. "I like to get on there and talk about hunting and drinking and boobs and things guys like," Shelton said onstage, after showing his Twitter page on the big screen behind him.
To finish the story, he let his sentiments lead into one of his hits, saying, "If you don't like my tweets, you can 'Kiss my country a--'."

[NEWS] CARSON DALY DESTROYS THE DIRTY RUMORS ABOUT XTINA'S ACTIONS ON 'THE VOICE'
Yesterday, a dirty little rumor sprung up that producers for The Voice were planning to axe Christina Aguilera from the coaching line up after the conclusion of its second season.
Well we at AMP Radio wanted answers, so who better to ask than the host of the show (AND our morning show guru) Carson Daly?
What’s fact and what’s false? Hear the truth straight from the horse’s mouth!
Contrary to reports, producers couldn’t be more pleased with Christina Aguilera and her work on The Voice.
Among the false complaints, sources say the pop star doesn’t spend quality time with her own contestants, she doesn’t “participate,” she brings her boyfriend with her on set all the time, and they even go as far to say that she’s drinking on the job!
He set the record straight this morning on AMP Radio. As for her relationship with her contestants, he says she’s completely hands-on:

Among the false complaints, sources say the pop star doesn’t spend quality time with her own contestants, she doesn’t “participate,” she brings her boyfriend with her on set all the time, and they even go as far to say that she’s drinking on the job!
“I would tell you the 100% truth. If she was a diva, if she was a pain in the ass, I've got nothing vested. I'd tell you. I'd tell you right now."What does Carson have to say about that? False, false, false and FALSE!
He set the record straight this morning on AMP Radio. As for her relationship with her contestants, he says she’s completely hands-on:
"I think she spent more time with her contestants, her team, the girls, than anybody else. [It] may not have been on the set, but she was on the phone with them, working out what songs they were going to do. Adam might have spent more time, but [she's] top two. She spent more time than Cee Lo or Blake, for sure."Okay, item number 2: Christina doesn’t “participate?” Also not true.
"Some of the rehearsals she’s not at. Like some of them that I’m at, she’s really not needed. We’re doing what we call look-sees and blocking and camera, so they’ll have a stand in, but it’s quite common. She’s there for all the dress [rehearsals] and all the stuff that she has to be there for."Carson then dispelled rumors about Christina’s boyfriend Matt hanging around at The Voice.
"I can count on one hand how many times Matt was on the set. I bring my girlfriend way more than I’ve seen her boyfriend."Finally, he hilariously put to rest the most troubling subject: the matter of Christina drinking on set:
"We give her a hard time for not drinking on the job! Me and Adam and Cee Lo and Blake, we always are hanging out and drinking beers or whatever and we’re always trying to get her to come and join us, but she’s busy picking out outfits! So there’s no truth to it all, none whatsoever."Well there you have it! Get the full 411 by listening to the audio clip below!

[NEWS] THE VOICE'S ASHLEY DE LA ROSA: "WORKING WITH CHRISTINA IS INCREDIBLE"
The Voice contestant Ashley De La Rosa has said that she couldn't have asked for a better coach than Christina Aguilera.

Speaking to reporters on a conference call, De La Rosa said:
The high school student became a member of Team Christina on Monday night (February 20) following her blind audition performance of 'Shark in the Water'.
Speaking to reporters on a conference call, De La Rosa said:
"So far the experience has been incredible. My school and my friends have been really supportive. It's kind of strange with the newfound fans and all of that, but I'm very appreciative and grateful for all of this."
"It's been an incredible experience and to be able to work with someone as amazing as Christina Aguilera, I couldn't have asked for anyone better."De La Rosa said that she was nervous before auditioning, not only because of the celebrity coaches but also because of the level of talent all around her.
"They are amazing singers and performers so it's a humbling experience and I'm grateful for it," she said. "I would definitely say the nerves almost got the best of me and then singing in front of four incredible performers - singing to their backs and waiting for them to turn around was pretty nerve-wracking!"As for whether she still hopes to pursue a career in international relations, De La Rosa said: "I have always had a passion for that and travelling, but that's what I'm trying to figure out with The Voice.
"It's giving me this opportunity at the moment so I'll take it and run with it as far as I can. If I don't make it all the way then I will definitely go back to international relations, but I always give 110% to the thing I'm doing and I don't want to spread myself too thin or look back and regret not giving my all on the show."Source: DigitalSpy
[NEWS] 'THE VOICE': MONIQUE BENABOU IDENTIFIES WITH CHRISTINA AGUILERA
This week on The Voice, Monique Benabou was selected by coach Christina Aguilera after performing her version of the Kelly Clarkson hit “Mr. Know It All”.
Although Monique only managed to get the attention of Christina Aguilera during her Blind Audtion on The Voice, the Alameda, California resident was happy to be selected for Team Christina. Interestingly, it was Blake Shelton who first recognized the vocal potential of Monique Benabou and urged Aguilera to turn her chair.
So, with her position solidified on The Voice, how does Monique feel that Christina can take her to new heights as a singer?
When The Deadbolt spoke with Monique this week, Benabou shared her thoughts on being in The Voice competition under Christina’s wing.
For Monique, working with Christina Aguilera is all about a certain creative freedom on Team Xtina.

“Christina, musically, she can open up a lot of different avenues for me. She’s worked with some of the best songwriters and producers over her career and really mixed different genres. I identify that kind of nomadic style but still staying true to a very soulful, powerhouse kind of voice.”In relation to finding a common musical bond with Christina, Monique was quick to point out the similarities between what she brings as new singer on The Voice and what her coach has to offer.
For Monique, working with Christina Aguilera is all about a certain creative freedom on Team Xtina.
“I think we have that in common as far as the types of voices we have and the fact that we do like to play and experiment with the genres and styles of the records we produce.”Source: The Dead Bolt
[NEWS] TOM HANKS IS OBSESSED WITH 'THE VOICE'
TOM Hanks is a fan of The Voice!

[SCAN] TIME MAGAZINE MENTIONS CHRISTINA IN THEIR OBITUARY FOR WHITNEY HOUSTON
[NEWS] 'THE VOICE' SINGS LOUDER THAN 'AMERICAN IDOL' IN THE RATINGS
Barring a surprise with Thursday's American Idol, this week's telecast of The Voice will rate higher with adults 18-49 and total viewers than American Idol. Monday's two-hour installment of The Voice drew a 6.0 adults 18-49 rating and and a smidgen over 16 million viewers. Last night's two-hour American Idol scored a 5.1 rating with adults 18-49 and 15.88 million viewers in the preliminary ratings. It's likely Idol will be adjusted up a tenth or two in the final numbers, but there's no chance it will overtake The Voice this week with adults 18-49 (though there's a good shot it will work its way into a virtual tie).
So now 'The Voice > Idol" meme ensues, and I'd guess in one fashion or the other we'll see those comparisons for a while regardless of what happens. Some have asked me if I am surprised by American Idol's ratings. I tend to ignore the intra-week machinations but barring a turnaround it does appear that American Idol will be down for the season than the typical ~10%-15% annual year over year declines that always have happened. That's a little surprising since This has led some to opine that there is singing show saturation where adding The X Factor and having both hurts both Idol and The X Factor. That's perhaps a reasonable thing to speculate, but it's impossible to quantify. To be a contrarian I'd have to ask "if there is singing show saturation, why is The Voice doing better than The X Factor, and at least this week, even better than Idol? The easiest explanation to me is that for whatever reason, people just like The Voice more than The X Factor and at least this week more than American Idol (at least in live and same night DVR viewing).
But I'm much more surprised that The X Factor didn't perform better than I am by Idol being down. With a major overhaul underway, it will be interested to see what happens with The X Factor next season.
But what surprises me the most is the interest in ratings for The Voice. It's rare that we ever got much interest in Idol's ratings (Simon leaving did generate more interest in Idol's post-Simon ratings last season though). There's almost never much interest in unscripted show ratings, so that wasn't a surprise. But there is interest in The Voice's ratings and that's backed up by both qualitative data in the comments, and quantitative data in our site stats. I'm not sure if it's just a case where we were already around when The Voice launched where is Idol was on for years before we launched, or bewilderment that something besides the NFL is performing so well on NBC.
For and against, people are interested in The Voice. There seems to be the perfect storm where there are an equal number of anti-fans who will proclaim "See, I knew it. The Voice is doomed!' if it drops to a 5.5 adults 18-49 rating next week.

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA PICKS BRAZILIAN SINGER WHO ROCKS IT LIKE USHER ON 'THE VOICE'
Usher better watch his back!
Christina Aguilera may have had her poker face on during last night’s The Voice, but the “Beautiful” pop star couldn’t stop smiling for Jonathas' rendition of “You Got It Bad.” Aguilera loved it so much that she turned her chair for the lucky father-of-two, which almost sounds like Usher’s vocal clone.
"If I were to make it on a team for 'The Voice,' this would mean the world for my kids," Jonathas mentioned. "This would change their lives. It would give me the satisfaction that my mom didn't bring me here for nothing." Jonathas emigrated from Brazil to the U.S. when he was just 5.
Fellow judge Cee-Lo also happened to pick Jonathas, but the Brazilian singer decided to go on team Aguilera after her convincing pitch. "In my world, in my genre, in my tours, I've gotten to know some of the best choreographers," she said. "I want to mold you and package you and do the right thing by you... now I feel like Cee-Lo."
Cee-Lo joked about X-Tina having ‘package’ on her mind, but it seems to us that she is all about picking up her game. The pop star also landed Monique and Anthony, who rocked Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Goin' On."

[NEWS] ALL FOUR COACHES ARE RETURNING FOR THIS FALL'S SEASON 3 OF 'THE VOICE'
All four "Voice" judges will return to the NBC hit for a third season that will air -- for the first time -- in the fall, TheWrap has learned.
TheWrap reported previously that Christina Aguilera had agreed to return for $10 million for the season.
Now, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have all agreed to return as well, all with substantial pay raises, according to two individuals close to the negotiations. They have arranged their schedules for a fall debut, which NBC is preparing to announce shortly.
The individuals said that Green, Levine and Shelton will see their pay roughly doubled to $6 million.

A spokeswoman for NBC said that the judges were not settled upon yet. "No final decisions have been made," she told TheWrap.
Representatives for the judges declined to comment or did not immediately return calls for comment Thursday.
But insiders told TheWrap that Levine of "Maroon 5" had been holding out because of the scheduling issue. He and his band have an album nearing completion, and tour dates and promotion of the album had to move to accommodate the show's move to the fall.
"The Voice" was a breakout midseason hit for NBC when it debuted in April 2011. This season, the show -- which has aired three episodes -- has the highest averaging ratings on television. It averages an 8.4 rating/21 share in the crucial 18-49 demographic and 21.3 million viewers overall. It owes that average largely to huge ratings for the premiere, which aired in the plum spot after the Super Bowl.
TheWrap previously reported that NBC was considering moving the show to the fall. Now, with the agreement to bring back the four-judge panel, that decision has been made, according to knowledgeable individuals.
The network is expected to announce the decision in the next two weeks.
That scheduling decision would have the show, now a midseason hit, airing at the same time of year as Fox's "X Factor."

[NEWS] CHRIS MANN REVEALS HIS FAVORITE CHRISTINA SONGS & DESCRIBES HER IN 3 WORDS
Chris Mann: Q&A
1) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Dubai. I want to play tennis on top of the Burj Al Arab Hotel. Is that too much to ask?! It's the highest tennis court in the world. I'm a huge tennis fan so that would be amazing...unless I fell off.2) Who is your celebrity crush?
Aimee Teegarden from Friday Night Lights. I'm catching up on the whole series on Netflix right now--I'm only 6 years behind. My other crush is Casey Rose Wilson and, well, the entire cast of Happy Endings.3) What song is currently your guilty pleasure?
"Who Says" by Demi Lovato. Guilty as charged.4) Who would play you in a movie?
Ben Stiller...duh. I have a natural Blue Steel face and am also "ridiculously good looking."5) What's your favorite song from your coach?
Genie in a Bottle--the Original. Ironically, I remember seeing the video for the first time on a church ski trip in high school. My other favorite song from Xtina is "Walk Away" from the Stripped album. Wait...I lied--I have the fondest memory of driving from Nashville to Kansas with 2 friends from college and jamming "Infatuation" (from the 2002 Winter Olympics live version) the whole way. The extremely white announcer and the hand clapping breakdown at the end are noteworthy.6) What was your first concert ever?
Hmmm, I don't really remember...I feel like it was a Brain McKnight concert in Kansas City where my friend and I snuck back stage after the show. This is a talent I've always had. Later in life I went to another Brian McKnight concert in Nashville and snuck back stage AGAIN using a Kit Kat Bar wrapper disguised as a back stage pass--I told him he needed to improve his security detail.7) Tattoos?
Four. One on my forearm in Italian that says "Canto e Vivo" meaning "I sing and I live" and another on my (bulging) bicep in Coptic meaning "Without limits." I also have one on my back in Coptic that says "Dreams, Determination, Success and Faith" in a circle around the Chi Rho symbol. My newest one is on my left forearm--it's a chain with a roman numeral 5 hanging from it meaning "fifth time's a charm." I've been knocked down so many times on this musical journey but I keep getting up and trying again. For me it ain't "third time's a charm"...that one happened years ago.8) My last text message says:
My tattoos are basically my road map in life. I'm planning my next one now...it's going to be a map of Hogwarts on my lower back.
"I love you very much"9) People would be surprised to learn that I have ____ on my iPod.
Hardly any classical music. I love me some British Rock, Top 40 and...drum roll please...country music! (I'm actually a big Blake Shelton fan. I keep tryin' to win 'em over. Here's hopin'.)10) My coach in 3 words:
1) GenuineSource: NBC
2) Gifted
3) Gorgeous
[VIDEO] CHRIS MANN ALWAYS WANTED TO SING WITH CHRISTINA AGUILERA
WICHITA, Kansas -- Local boy makes good. Chris Mann was a hit on "The Voice" on NBC after the Superbowl.
"He always wanted to sing with Christina Aguillera," says mom, Patti, in Northeast Wichita this week after the show. "He always wanted to sing with her. Seeing him on stage with her was a thrill."
Patti and Mike always believed their son would hit it big. They believed.
"We've been through the ups and downs," says dad, Mike. "The highs the lows. The elation. Getting his first job."
Mike and Patti were at the recording of the big show.
"When he came out, we were still cheering for him," says Mike.
Chris got on the stage at The Voice and began singing his own brand of music. Something called classical crossover artistry.
The first judge on the show to go for Chris was artist/judge Cee Lo. Though Cee Lo wasn't sure what to make of Chris, singing in another language.
"You are from America, right?" asked Cee Lo on the big stage.
"I'm from Kansas," Chris said with a broad smile.
Kansas. A point of pride for Chris and both his parents. Chris cut his singing teeth at Wichita Southeast High, where he worked with WSU voice coaches. Chris was also a boy scout, tennis player, and fun-loving little brother to his sister, now an attorney in Wichita.
"We always knew he was incredibly talented," said Patti. "But he's just always wanted to sing with Christina. So to see him on stage with her after she picked him... did you see the hug she gave him?"
Pop sensation Christina Aguillera was the second judge on the show to pick Chris.
"Just let that voice go," said Aguillera of the unique style Mann showcased. "And you did."
Patti and Mike say Chris is thrilled to be moving on in the show. They're especially proud he was able to move forward with his own unique sound.
"He's got a variety of styles and ranges," says Mike "He loves the old style music of guys like Frank Sinatra. Loves the old singers."
So is Chris going to be the next Harry Connick Jr. or maybe Josh Groban?
"Oh, don't call him Josh Groban," says Patti. "Even though he's already good friends with Josh Groban. Chris will tell you he has his own style."
"Chris has been working on this for some time. He's already his own brand. He's a writer as well and he has a lot of music on the lifetime and E! Channel. He sang on Avatar. It's all on his website. He loves singing on Disney movies. He's a warbler with Glee. He's been doing many things... All with his big voice."
That big voice with the unique sound is moving on. He's not done on The Voice.
Catch The Voice, and Wichita's own Chris Mann, on NBC on the Kansas State Network.

[NEWS] SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT - XTINA IS (NOT) A NIGHTMARE ON 'THE VOICE'
Christina Aguilera is a “nightmare to work with” on “The Voice,” claims In Touch.
The tabloid says the judge “hasn’t eased up on the partying one iota” since her arrest for public intoxication a year ago, supposedly making things difficult for the show as the staff scrambles to make Aguilera TV-ready.
A so-called In Touch “insider” alleges, “She’s even shown up on set looking bloated and hungover.”
The mag goes so far as to say, “It’s gotten so bad that frustrated producers are considering giving Christina a curfew on the nights before tapings.”
Aguilera also “seems distracted while filming, to the point where producers have to feed her lines,” insists In Touch.
“She’s a disaster. They have to work hard to keep her on track,” claims the tab’s “insider.”
Uh-huh.
The only “disaster” here is the “reporting” from In Touch, which last year wrongly claimed that there were all sorts of problems with Aguilera on “The Voice,” including an alleged feud with Adam Levine.
It was not true then, either, and the show’s host, Carson Daly, slammed the rumors himself.
(Aguilera and Levine, of course, wound up collaborating on a massive hit song together.)
The mag’s latest report about Aguilera being a mess on set is “false,” a source close to the singer tells Gossip Cop, pointing out that the show hasn’t been filmed since October and November 2011.
Oops.

[VIDEO] CNN MUSIC SPECIALIST COMPARES CHRISTINA'S VOICE TO THAT OF WHITNEY HOUSTON'S
Host: Bruno, you were comparing Whitney with Barbra Straisand... Tell me like 3 more names to give to the new generations a kind of perspective that maybe they dont know too much about
CNN Specialist: I tell you... if you listen to Christina Aguilera's music nowadays it's like if you are listening Whitney's music, I mean The voice, the way she handle her voice is identical on how Whitney used to do it in her golden days.. not only that, I mean the mannerism on how Christina sings... it is identical to Whitney.. and Mariah Carey too.. but if you ask me which singer is most the most similar to Whitney... it is Christina Aguilera.

The musician and star of The Voice, 37, is in the running in three categories, including Best Pop Vocal Album, at Sunday’s Grammy Awards (CBS, 8 p.m. ET).
Who are your fashion influences?
I’m inspired by Kiss, Alice Cooper, Sly Stone, and Elton John—people who have great showmanship. I just like to shake things up and breathe some fresh air back into music.Who’s your biggest competition on The Voice this season?
I don’t really look at my fellow coaches as competition because we’re all completely different. I’d love to trade places with Christina [Aguilera] to see what it feels like to sing as brilliantly as she does. Blake [Shelton] is down-to-earth, charming, witty, charismatic. I’ve grown very fond of him. And Adam [Levine] and I are friends, too. He’s just supercool. What is your Twitter philosophy?
Sometimes less is more! I make sure that it’s significant and filled with a sense of humor. I’m a people person, so it comes easily to me. It’s my passion.

[NEWS] 'THE VOICE' TOPS VETERAN, 'AMERICAN IDOL' IN RATINGS
Is "American Idol's" reign over after 11 seasons?
The Wed., Feb. 8 show earned a 6.0 rating in the advertiser's coveted 18-49 demographic, which was not enough to beat NBC's "The Voice" this week.
On Mon., Feb. 6, "The Voice" pulled in a 6.7 rating in the demographic and 17.7 million viewers total. But the Feb. 8 "Idol" episode -- the first edition of Hollywood Week -- did beat out "The Voice" in total viewers with 18.9 million.
But "The Voice" is closing the gap. Last week, "Idol" had a 6.0 rating in the demo and 18.5 million viewers.
In terms of total viewers in the key 18-49 demographic, 7.7 million viewers tuned into "Idol," while "The Voice" had 8.5 million viewers.
The battle between the two reality series has been brewing since "The Voice" entered the scene in 2011. Earlier this week, "Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told The Hollywood Reporter that though the competitive NBC series has a "fun format," "they need stronger talent -- we'll see.
It was that same argument that "Idol" stars and crew used at the Television Critics Association press tour in January to bash "The Voice." According to TVGuide.com, Longtime "Idol" judge Randy Jackson said:
"'Idol' is still the best TV show that's come on anywhere ... We're the original. We kind of invented this whole game that everybody's now copying -- and I say that they're copying it, right? ... The winner of 'The Voice,' I will remind you, [Javier Colon] was an artist who had a deal at Capitol Records for several years, a failed contract … That show was almost 'second chance people.'"Adam Levine, "The Voice's" judge-coach who helped lead Colon to victory fired back on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" early in February via EW.com:
"Shame on Randy Jackson for saying that. Because he of anybody should know that if you're in this business, you need second, third, fourth and fifth chances. And so we love and embrace having that being part of the show ... It was an irresponsible thing to say that."Spats aside, though "Idol" ratings have been slipping, Nigel Lythgoe told THR, "After 11 years, I'm thrilled with these ratings," adding: "Isn't it fantastic that we're still America's No. 1 show?"
The only question is: For how long?

[VIDEO] SIMON COWELL'S 'X FACTOR' READY TO BATTLE 'THE VOICE'
In part two of “Extra’s” exclusive interview with Simon Cowell, the “X Factor” creator told our Terri Seymour his plan of attack for competing this fall in what may be the same time slot as NBC’s “The Voice.
“If I’m right, ‘The Voice’ is now going to compete with us in the fall. You have to rethink things even more than we were a couple of weeks ago… ’cause now it’s war.”
Simon added, “I really am up for that. I think it’s crazy, but if that’s what they want to do, then we have to be better.”
The wildly successful TV mogul, who has to fill two judges’ seats and find a host for next season’s “X Factor,” observed, “You know what’s interesting? When everyone talks about artists competing, it’s like suddenly this massive punch-up between all these competition shows. So it’s really, really, really competitive… in a way that’s more exciting than anything else at the moment, and I kind of feel like the underdog, so I like it.”
Cowell, not fazed by Grammy-winning musical artists serving as judges on “The Voice,” said, “I would ask how many hit records have they made… how many artists have they discovered (referring to the show itself). That’s where we have to be different on our judging panel. It’s very important that you have people on the panel who have actually signed and made artists successful all over the world, not just have had hits yourself. That’s why you have a judging panel. I was kind of surprised at that.”
Cowell is also surprised that he doesn’t get credit for the innovation of using mentors in talent shows, and he set the record straight. “Everyone thinks that ‘The Voice’ started this whole mentoring thing. It’s complete nonsense. Our [UK] show was on years before then and we were always different from other shows because our judges were mentors. Then they come out before us in America and they have mentors. But that was copied from us.”
With “X Factor,” “American Idol” and “The Voice” all up against each other, Cowell clarified his recent “X Factor” “bloodbath” comments, and said, “I was slightly misquoted when I said there was going to be a bloodbath. I wasn’t actually referring to the ‘X Factor’ having a bloodbath. I said, ‘The whole market will be a bloodbath because everyone wants to be in this market now’ and certain people are going to suffer because of it. You have to make sure you’re not one of the ones that’s going to suffer and the only way around this is — and I’ve been in this business for many, many [years]. You make better shows; you make them more interesting. You make changes. You have to be unpredictable and you have to find stars. That’s what it’s all about.”
