A Fan Review of "Not Myself Tonight"

Christina Declared #1 On "Blackest White Folks We Know" List

Following in the footsteps of "vanilla child," ‘80s songstress Teena Marie, Latina singer Christina Aguilera revealed early on that she had soul. Certainly more than pop-tart singers Britney Spears, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson, with whom she was often compared. Aguilera received her official black card when she channeled Patti LaBelle in the remake of "Lady Marmalade," providing the big soul singer sound to the otherwise kitschy ensemble.

Christina Aguilera Debuts 'Not Myself Tonight,' First Bionic Single

MTV has written an article on Christina's new single "Not Myself Tonight" off her forthcoming album "BIONIC" Here is what MTV had to say:
On Tuesday afternoon (March 30), Christina Aguilera took to her I Heart Radio channel to premiere "Not Myself Tonight," the first single from her upcoming Bionic album. And judging from the sound of the track, Bionic is a pretty fitting title for the project.

"Tonight" is a whirring, whooshing thing, full of blaring synthesizers and spare snares speeding along over a pounding, four-on-the-floor beat. It's more of a classic house cut than anything else, the kind of track you'd expect to hear rattling the speakers at the massive, multi-level clubs of Europe. And on the song, Aguilera sounds like she's already on the dance floor.

"Tonight, I'm feeling a little bit out of control," she sings over curling electronic tendrils. "I'm dancing a lot/ Taking shots and I'm feeling fine/ Kissing all the boys and girls/ Someone call the doctor, 'cause I lost my mind."

"Tonight, I'm not the same girl/ I'm not myself tonight," she belts over the soaring chorus. "In the morning, when I wake up, I'll go back to the girl I used to be/ But baby, not tonight."

Toward the end of the song — which was produced by Polow Da Don and written by Ester Dean — Aguilera even gets to show off her patented vocal pyrotechnics, making several powerful vocal runs. And there's a sweaty, pulsing breakdown in which she pants and purrs ("Yeah, that feels good, I needed that") before the song fades out under the clatter of drums.

"Tonight" was prefaced by a rather robotic countdown on Aguilera's I Heart Radio channel, which featured an android repeating the title of the album while grinding electronic noises whirred in the background and some of Aguilera's earlier hits ("Genie in a Bottle," "Beautiful," etc.) were mixed into the fray. At the song's end, Aguilera asked fans to call in and let her know if they liked the track, before she decided to play the whole thing again.

Bionic is scheduled to hit stores June 8. In an interview earlier this year with Marie Claire magazine, Aguilera said the album "is about the future" and explained that the birth of her son, Max, served as inspiration for many of the songs.

With the song's premiere, we can probably put those "Iamamiwhoami" rumors to bed once and for all.

Christina Aguilera Hits the Dance Floor With “Not Myself Tonight”

In 2006, Christina Aguilera went Back to Basics, putting a modern spin on soul and swing-era music. Her new Bionic boasts a futuristic album cover and buzzing first single that show off her renewed desire to hit the dance club with high-powered beats from the 21st century. Aguilera premiered first single “Not Myself Tonight” on her official site yesterday, singing, “I’m not myself tonight, tonight I’m not the same girl,” a nod to her musical shift in the past four years. Aguilera even takes preemptive aim at anyone who dismisses her new style with, “The old me’s gone and I feel brand new, and if you don’t like it, fuck you.” It appears as though “Xtina” is back and is ready to duke it out for club spins with Lady Gaga and Ke$ha.

“Not Myself Tonight” was co-written by Ester Dean, who had a hand in Rihanna’s “Rude Boy,” and club king Polow Da Don, who also produced the track. Bionic will feature Aguilera combining songs written by electro-pop and rockers like Sia, Le Tigre and Ladytron with production from bona fide hitmakers like Tricky Stewart, Switch and Linda Perry. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Aguilera also had some writing sessions with M.I.A. and Santigold. “There’s no holds barred for anything,” Aguilera told RS. “It’s really the future and can go anywhere. It’s exciting to challenge myself in that way and explore.”
The single will be available on iTunes starting April 13th, while Bionic will follow on June 8th, which is 69 days and two hours from right now according to the countdown clock embedded on Aguilera’s site.

Christina Aguilera's "Not Myself Tonight" Return Sounds Like an Instant Hit

Whomever might think that vocal prowess makes little difference in a mainstream pop song needs to listen once to Christina Aguilera's stellar new single "Not Myself Tonight." The electropop tune sounds like it could be a bit ordinary until the vocals really kick in about 45 seconds into the song. From that point on Christina Aguilera towers over much of the competition proving why she is frequently included in the shortest lists of today's top pop singers. Polow Da Don is in the production booth here, and "Not Myself Tonight" is scheduled to go to radio next week April 5, 2010. You can purchase the song beginning April 13, 2010. The album Bionic which includes "Not Myself Tonight" is set to hit the shelves June 8, 2010. This song should be an instant add at top 40 radio.

Christina Aguilera's "Not Myself Tonight": Great, or Super-Great?

Somewhere between playing a stripper on film, telling the world way too much about her sex life, and solidifying her reputation as one of show-biz's most party-positive moms, Christina Aguilera has managed to record some new music. And we have some of it for you right here, right now! Because we love you just. That. Much.

Warm up your ears with a good rub to prepare them for "Not Myself Tonight," the first single from Aguilera's forthcoming album Bionic, due out June 8. Never mind that repetitive dull thud you keep hearing; it's just Mozart's corpse punching itself repeatedly in the junk because he never came anywhere remotely near creating something this awesome.

Give it a listen and let us know what you think in the comments section. Assuming your brain hasn't exploded from trying to process so much concentrated greatness, of course.

Proud FM's Musical Discrimination

One of our precious readers has informed us that ProudFM, in Toronto, Canada, has a "Musical Director" who hand selects what is broadcast live on-air. His sexual orientation happens to be heterosexual. This reader inquired when ProudFM would air "Not Myself Tonight," the lead single off of Christina Aguilera's fourth studio album, Bionic. The Musical Director replied:

"We won't," he laughs, "Christina's music SUCKS. We won't play it unless I like it."

How dare he completely deny the proposition to air the lead single? Christina has a tremendously huge following which has made itself known especially during the past few weeks, not to mention, she is a prominent LGBT icon. ProudFM 103.9, is a LGBT radio station.

OUR MISSION: Flood the stations email inbox with DEMANDS that they play "Not Myself Tonight." Christina does not discriminate, neither should he. God sees no colors.

This is not a DICTATORSHIP, but a DEMOCRACY, and Christina's music WILL be embraced.

WARNING: These requests must seem GENUINE, and must NOT mention the Musical Director AT ALL. This will thwart our attempts to have the song broadcast live on-air.

Christina's EROTIC Baths

Christina Aguilera likes to read erotic books in the bath.

The singer - who has a two-year-old son, Max, with her music producer husband Jordan Bratman - likes nothing better than flicking through an X-rated novel while she is soaking in soapy suds.

She said: "I love water-eroticas - waterproof books full of erotic stories, if you will. You can literally get the book wet, read it in the bath."

The 29-year-old pop star insists Max is the couple's priority, but recognizes it's important she and Jordan make time for each other both in public and in the bedroom.

She added to Britain's OK! magazine: "We make sure we have mommy and daddy nights out. Our child comes first, obviously, but there are certain things you can do. Once we know he's in good hands, we go out late at night and have a few drinks. Then we'll come home, dim the lights and do our thing!"

Christina previously vowed motherhood wouldn't stop her enjoying "naked Sundays" with Jordan.

She said: "When it comes to things like our cozy naked Sundays I think it's important for Jordan and I not to lose ourselves. Of course, having a child requires a lot of time and attention, but we think it's really important to still have mommy and daddy time."

Christina's Work On Burlesque Banished All Baby Weight

CHRISTINA Aguilera says Cher has "embraced" her and became a mentor to her during filming for their movie, Burlesque.

In an interview in this week's OK! Magazine, Christina Aguilera revealed she has felt completely at ease with Cher while she filmed her big-screen debut, Burlesque.

Christina says the pair, who star together in the movie about a small-town girl who flees home and starts working in a burlesque club in LA, got along very well on set.

She said: "She’s [Cher has] embraced me with open arms, it’s meant the world. She’s been very much a mentor to me, but we get together and it’s like we’re old girlfriends, we’ll talk and talk. I really adore her."

And the yummy mummy, who gave birth to son Max two years ago, says the dance routines for the film were enough to banish any remaining baby weight she may have kept on.

She added: "I feel I’ve never danced before in my life until this movie, even though I have done since I was six! It’s gotten me into shape. Any baby weight I had was gone by the time we started shooting."

Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer Design Lighting for Movie Musical Burlesque

Eight-time Tony Award-winning lighting designers Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer have created the theatrical lighting designs for all of the musical numbers in the feature film Burlesque, which as previously reported will star Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, and Stanley Tucci.

Burlesque is a dramatic musical, which focuses on a young hopeful singer (played by Aguilera) who is befriended by the more seasoned nightclub proprietor and headliner (Cher) who owns the glamorous and once illustrious Burlesque Lounge where all of the films' musical numbers take place. The film also features Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Peter Gallagher, and Alan Cumming.

Eisenhauer and Fisher have previously created lighting designs for such films as Chicago and Dreamgirls. Their stage credits include the musicals Cabaret, Ragtime, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Hair, La Cage Aux Folles, Gypsy (2003 revival), Jelly's Last Jam, Victor/Victoria, Grand Hotel, and Assassins as well as the nonmusicals Angels In America, Lenny, American Buffalo, and Elaine Stritch At Liberty, among others.

BRAND NEW Message From Xtina Via Christina Aguilera Radio

Jordan And His Venice Beach Babe

On Saturday (March 27), the day after his wife Christina Aguilera premiered her newest single, Not Myself Tonight via her official website, Jordan Bratman and their son Max Liron were spotted out and about together in Venice Beach.

The adorable 2-year-old was sporting a pair of black Converse and some cute camo shorts as his dad toted him across the street.

Max’s mama recently opened up to Marie Claire about how motherhood has inspired her music:

I had a really hard time being light before. I’d get a little weird about it being too cliché. My first record was very clichéd pop - what everyone else wanted. [My second album Stripped] inspired by a lot of pain. [My third, Back to Basics,] /still had some sort of relation to my past. [My new album] is just about the future - my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have fun.

Max is the only child for Christina and Jordan who have been married since November 2005.

Then And Now: A VISIT FROM THE PAST

A little about us:
We started this blog back on July 7th, 2009 with the name, CHRISTINA'S BloGSpot (a play on G Spot, get it? haha). We originally began with four bloggers, all from different locations in the U.S. [Karlos Aguilera - California, Joel Horton - Ohio, Josh Green - SC, and Aiden Valenciano (who's no longer with us due to creative differences) - Texas]. Our original blog was DELETED on the DAY BEFORE her birthday, December 17th, 2009, which was a HUGE setback for us (we lost 380 posts). Someone evidently reported us for 'spamming' which is completely ludicrous. Before our site was taken from us, Karlos and I (Joel) decided that we could use a new name for the site (AguileraOnline), because http://www.christinas-blogspot.blogspot.com is a bit long. =] So we started from scratch, in the latter half of December, December 23rd to be precise, and we went from there. 258 posts later, our old blog, Christina's BloGSpot, was reactivated today, March 27th, 2009. Karlos transferred all 380 posts from the old site to AguileraOnline, and we are so happy to announce we are officially complete. It certainly has been a trip maintaining upkeep of the blog for all you Christina lovers out there, whom we LOVE so much. It is seriously you readers that keeps US motivated, and you are so important to us. We want to make AguileraOnline the #1 go-to place for EVERYTHING Aguilera, and we're gaining momentum, and are continually striving to be a better source for all of YOU, yes, YOU. We LOVE you SO much. Thanks for spreading the word.

Linda Perry talks about Christina's New Sound

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Linda Perry was asked about Christina Aguilera and her HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 4th Studio album "BIONIC"

Here is what she had to say:
PW: Last year Christina Aguilera performed, you two seem to be very much kindred spirits.
Linda: Her and I are funny together -- we're like sumo wrestlers. We both want to win the match, so in the process of battling each other we just laugh the whole time. She wants to be strong, but I'm way stronger than she realizes [laughs]. I love her dearly though. She has so much to offer and as a musician, she's really changing things up, which I love.

PW: She does strike me as someone who refuses to rest on her laurels.
Linda: Absolutely. [Like on her new album, "Bionic"], she's toning it down a lot. Everybody knows that Christina can sing, but I've been telling her that she doesn't have to blow horns off every day. So she's venturing out of her comfort zone and going more electronic, working with Sia, Lady Tron and MIA as producers.

PW: Was it hard for her to turn the dial down?
Linda: I think for Christina, not singing full out is probably the most vulnerable, insecure place for her. So to tone it down and not hit the big notes, that's a really touchy place for her. But I think it's great that she's doing it and taking herself there. Maybe she isn't reinventing the wheel, but you gotta admit, she's always trying something different. Best of all, she's doing it for herself.

Christina Aguilera Sees a Different Kind of Peep Show

Christina Aguilera may be playing up the mommy look these days, but the soulful singer still knows how to get dirty—don't be fooled. Xtina hit up the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood on Tuesday night for a private showing of some very talented...privates.

So what exactly are these X-rated antics the blonde babe enjoyed?

Puppetry of the Penis, a Tony Award-winning show in which the perky male performers—well, you can probably figure it out from the title, no?

Fellow mom and gal-pal Nicole Richie was also on hand to watch the young studs' skills, dubbed "dick tricks," including twisting their junk into shapes called the "weed snipper," "baby bird," and "Loch Ness Monster."

I'll give your filthy mind a moment to think about what exactly those positions entail.

Typical to the H'wood double standard, we only ever hear about dudes getting to sneak a peak at lady bits in shows like Holly Madison's Peepshow or the infamous Pussycat Doll Lounge, so I'm glad these chicks are finally getting a chance to let their freak flags fly.

Christina thought the show was "totally fun," and I can't blame her. Society is so sexed up with buxom beasts, but where's a girl or gay supposed to go for some full-frontal from a hunk? Clearly not Playgirl.

If you want to catch these fellows contort their little friends, you're going to have to buy a ticket to Scandinavia, their next penis stop. But hopefully a bit of their sexy legacy with stay here in good ol' Los Angeles.

It's about time we give the ladies a break and objectify a few guys, right?
