It was released on August 24, 1999, sold 10 million copies in the U.S. and was certified platinum 8 times. This album was responsible for Christina's three #1 Hits. With the release of this CD Christina Aguilera won the Billboard Artist of the Year award, and her first Grammy for best new artist, beating out Britney Spears, Macy Grey, and others.
