[NEWS] IN MAGAZINE: CHRISTINA AGUILERA REVEALS HER SECRETS TO MAKING WOMEN SHINE

Your new perfume Secret Potion is supposed to make women 'shine'. What's your personal secret for great radiance?

A perfume is meant to enhance the seductive aura of a woman. I think that as women we know in our unique way what it takes to feel good when we enter a room. I guess it's about exuding confidence, feeling comfortable in your own skin. Personally I have to feel comfortable in my outfits, in my shoes. Hair and make up has to be right, that's an important part of me. But the greatest thing about a fragrance is that it can help you feel good and feel attractive instantly. The sense of smell plays an important in the perception of other people.

Would you say that a fragrance can change your mood?

Definitely. Your own mood and also how you perceive other people. Let me give you an example: you enter a room and you suddenly feel attracted to someone who's usually not even your type. You can instantly feel attracted to that person because she or he smells particularly nice. Also if you don't feel good or if you feel sad a fragrance can lighten up your mood. I often wear perfumes at night before I go to bed just because they're fun and make me feel sexy.

How did you come up with the name 'Secret Potion'?

Procter & Gamble, and I have been closely working together for a long time now. About a year before the release of a new perfume we meet to discuss what we want to do next. We talk about the concept and about what I currently like. It can be candles or a bubble bath - everything I like to treat myself with. I choose what I like best out of a number of different ingredients. We start with the base note, always containing musk, because I think musk is really important to bring across sensuality. All my perfumes have this scent. I also love sandalwood. Secret Potion especially has an oriental scent. I like that it makes the perfume flirty, sexy, that it carries passion, and it's fun.

Which of your perfumes - already four by now - do you like best?

That always depends on my mood, but of course I like them all.

Where do you like to wear your perfume?

I like it on my wrists and on my neck.

Do you still remember the first perfume you ever owned?

Not the name, but it was something with a lot of vanilla. Today I would be alienated by that.

What scents do you associate with your childhood?

I can remember the perfume my mother always used to wear. Unfortunately I can't remember the name anymore but it contained musk - maybe that's where my preference for it comes from. I also like male fragrances a lot, I think they're sexy and I can also draw inspiration for my own perfumes from them. But what I really link to my childhood is the memory of my mother sitting at her dressing table applying make up and perfume. I have always been a real girly girl and I was interested in make up, beauty products, and perfumes. For me all those things are really feminine, but they're also creative and it's fun to experiment and try out new things. Perfume is the key element in this very feminine beautification ritual. And perfume also plays an important role in the art of seduction.

Can you tell us the five beauty products you can't live without?

Moisturizer is the most important product. Then I need a range of lip balms. I don't like dry lips at all, I always need to have something on my lips. That's a must. Hair products are important too. I like my hair to smell great. Dry shampoo is a magic cure too. I love Klorane's and I like Elnett hair spray - and Phyto's volume spray, it gives great volume to the roots. When it comes to make up I love Mac's liquid liner and the Lip Sense lip sticks, which are incredibly long lasting.

What's the best beauty advice you've ever been given?

Always use enough moisturizer. And by all means have your beauty sleep. Both are really important for me because my days tend to be really long and I'm often wearing make up for hours. That makes it important to have a good beauty routine at night - including taking of your make up, cleansing, moisturizing, and applying eye cream. That's all very essential. I also think it's important to not spend a lot of time in the sun.

[NEWS] CHRISTINA AGUILERA'S 'SECRET POTION' SMELLS DELISH AND BEDAZZLES YOUR DRESS!

Christina Aguilera does fragrance like a diva, and we're frankly all the better for it. In the commercial for her new scent, "Secret Potion," a gorgeous Xtina steps out into an elevator wearing a basic black dress. But then Christina starts spritzing herself with her "Secret Potion," and as the scent fills the elevator, her basic (but still OK) dress transforms into a way-more-exciting sequin gown. WAIT, WHAT? This perfume makes you smell like Christina Aguilera and transforms you into a glitter queen? Sign me up!

As she gives the camera a classic hair flip (LOVES!), Christina exits the elevator into a fancy party. And just when you think this commercial can't get any sultrier (because the smooth loungey jazz is already sultry, mind you) Christina whips her hair around and gives the camera one last knowing look, which ushers in a voice-over (VO, as we say in the "biz"), which imparts this fortune-cookie-esque nugget of troof: "Because every woman has their secret"... followed by a seductive "shhhhhhh."

Don't worry, Christina! We definitely won't tell anyone that you didn't have time in your busy schedule to go home and switch outfits. Also, you smell both expensive and highly talented.

[NEWS] AGUILERAONLINE EXCLUSIVE - FABULOUS MAGAZINE: 'BORN AGAIN CHRISTINA'

When we finally meet Christina Aguilera in her hotel in Munich, we are greeted by the diva doll. There are the trademark blonde hair extensions and the perfect red pout, perched on top of a Gothic throne far from getting up (God forbid) or shaking our hand, the Christina doesn’t move or smile and gives clipped answers and doesn't attempt to small talk. It’s going to be a long 10-minute interview!

Over the past 18 months, Christina, 30, has had more ups and downs than her vocal range. We’re here to talk about her new perfume, “Secret Potion” but we can’t ignore her personal life.

“I’ve had a very turbulent year like everyone goes through in their lives” She admits cautiously, smoothing her leopard print Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Once upon a time, Christina was the ultimate pop diva, she sold over 30 million records, won 5 Grammy's, had a happy marriage, a baby… but in June 2010 everything fell apart. Her album “Bionic” bombed and the video for her single “Not Myself Tonight” looked suspiciously like an attempt to do a "gaga." She didn’t handle the comparisons graciously, when asked about lady gaga she was quoted as saying “I don’t know if it’s a man or woman."

Last October she announced her 5 year marriage to record producer, Jordan Bratman, was at an end, her Bionic tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales & there were rumors her record label were about to drop her. Then the embarrassing slip ups started, she messed up the lyrics to the National Anthem (kind of the biggest deal there is in the states), tripped on stage at the Grammy's & got arrested on suspicion of public intoxication (charges were later dropped). Gossip columns had a field day, how did that feel?

“In this business it’s all about a juicy story,” she says, “but I think you learn that it’s not worth time or energy, I’m immune to all that now.”

Luckily just after her arrest, came “The Voice”, an X Factor style show where the judges (Christina, Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, and country music star Blake Shelton) have their backs to the contestants so they only judge their voice. It was a huge hit and gave Christina some much needed credibility.

In September Christina’s vocals on Maroon 5’s 'Moves Like Jagger' kicked Adele of the top spot in the US and remains near the top of the charts here too.

So how did she turn it all around?

“There’s a reason why I wrote the song Fighter” she explains, “It’s my mentality and my spirit. I’ve over come every setback, starting with my chaotic childhood.”

She has spoken before about her violent father & dysfunctional up bringing and for the first time in our chat she speaks with passion.

“Growing up instilled that survival instinct in me. It’s a sink or swim mentality and I’m a swimmer.”

Having being famous since the age of 13, how does she feel now she’s in her 30’s?

“Just turned 30,” she corrects us sternly. "I’m more confident in my own skin. I’d rather be my age now, than be 21. That’s when you’re realizing who you are, figuring it all out. I’m happy I was experimental and fearless in my choices. I wasn’t shy."

You don’t say. Does she still have those leather chaps?

“Oh I archive all my stage costumes.”

Does she ever dig them out and dance around the house?

She giggles, "I like to keep them intact."

Having every shape size and color over the years, is Christina happy with her look now?

“There are layers I feel weaker and more insecure," she admits. “It’s about getting to the root of the reason you feel that way, whether it’s people around you, how to live your life or how you eat. I Try To Work Out 5 times a week, as I find it hard to motivate myself. I don’t believe in dieting but i do love comfort food.”

Any Down Time Is Spent With Her Son.

“I’ll lie in bed with my little Boy (Max) and watch a Disney movie.”

We’re given a clue to wrap things up, and spot a handsome scruffy looking guy. It’s Matt Rutler, Christina’s boyfriend. They met on the set of her movie Burlesque and it seems he hasn’t left her side since.

So what’s up next?

“I’m excited to put those feelings and emotions from the past year into a new record. Songwriting is therapeutic for me."

Is there a song that makes her cry?

“Um…,” she looks down, her eye’s widen as she remembers something & laughs softly. “Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Especially after a few cocktails."
