Deep Cuts of the Decade: the hits of 2003 that you probably forgot

10/14/09 - Out of the first decade of the 21st century, 2003 was an awesome year for music. 2003 consisted of some overwhelming events and inventions in music: In April of '03, Apple introduced the iTunes Music Store to the world, thereby making it easier for everyone to get a hold of their favorite jams.

A song that I am sure was on everyone's iPod at the time was "Me Against the Music" by Madonna and Britney Spears. Speaking of Britney and Madonna, I know we all remember the intense make-out between Madonna and both pop-stars of the time, B. Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

But Madonna wasn't the only one causing a scene in '03.

That year the King of Pop, M.J, was arrested on charges of child molestation. It wasn't all bad for M.J though, that same year he released the album Number Ones that contained all his singles that reached #1 around the world. Some other kick-ass albums released in '03 were Meteora by Linkin Park, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

Beyonce made it in the solo league with Dangerously in Love, and this album led to her winning five Grammys, so it was no surprise that two singles off that album were ranked number one in the US. In This Skin by Jessica Simpson was released. A major album, in my opinion, that was released was Results May Vary by Limp Bizkit. I, for one was excited as hell when this album came out, it was their first album in three years… they had taken a serious hiatus, but they came back strong.

To finish it off on the album front, our beloved Brittney Spears came out with In the Zone and Blink-182 hit us with their self-titled album. Along with these stellar albums from 2003, there was an insane amount of excellent songs. Here are 40 of 2003's top 100. Get ready for some extreme nostalgia:

1) "Crazy in Love"- Beyonce ft. Jay-z
2) " Hey Ya!" - Outkast
3) "Get Low"- Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz
4) "Stacy's Mom" - Fountains of Wayne
5) "Beautiful" - Christina Aguilera
6) "Right Thurr" - Chingy
7) "Ignition"- R.Kelly
8) "In Da Club" - 50 Cent
9) "Cry Me A River" - Justin Timberlake
10) "Shake Ya Tailfeather" - Nelly & Murphy Lee
11) "Landslide"- The Dixie Chicks
12) "Picture" - Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow
13) "Get Busy" - Sean Paul
14) "Milkshake" - Kelis
15) "Girl all the Bad Guys Want"-Bowling for Soup

Who could forget Chingy's "Right Thurr" and his fun times at the "Holidae Inn," or the "Magic Stick" 50 Cent and Lil' Kim kept going on about. It's been a while since we've heard some wicked tunes like those of 2003. But we will always have these songs and many more to remind of us of the good times.
